Lifeboat Builders

Gumboot Bootcamp 2025: Registration is Open!

This summer, come visit the Farmastery at Spalding Valley Farm to get hands-on experience living intentionally with the land and people.

The world today is turbulent. Things are already bumpy, and they’re getting bumpier. To navigate these times, we need to find innovative ways to fundamentally transform how we think about and work with the land and each other.

We think the best way to do that is to develop a fleet of lifeboats – local, grassroots, human-scaled resilience networks working together for mutual support.

The Lifeboat Academy at Spalding Valley Farm offers both on-site and online opportunities to learn skills and get support for building your lifeboat.

To get a taste of what it feels like to live interdependently with all our relations, consider joining one of our Gumboot Bootcamps this summer.

Why become part of the Lifeboat Academy?

We offer a variety of resources to support people building place-based resilience networks, including:

  1. Mutual peer-to-peer support
  2. Guidance / mentoring from seasoned lifeboat builders
  3. Effective collaboration, project management and team development tools

We’ll meet you where you are to provide support and tools to help you increase your local resilience.

All our work is freely offered based on the principles of reciprocity and the pay-it-forward model.

Check out our ongoing events and peer support spaces here.
